Hello, Friends of HMCS Haida:
We are sending out this notice to let you know that on April 27, 2025 from 1:30-4pm EST there will be a Memorial Service for the sinking of HMCS Athabaskan at HMCS Star and alongside HMCS Haida- located at 658 Catharine Street N, Hamilton.
Here is a summary of the event timeline
At 13:30
- Location – Alongside the Haida
- Color Party – BONV
- MC – intro/welcome remarks
- Wreath Laying – at the bow of the HMCS Haida
To follow:
- Reception at the Wardroom of HMCS Star.
- Includes sandwiches, sweets, and coffee. A cash bar will be available.
- A short video (about 9 minutes) of Harry De Wolfe discussing the Haida’s role the night of the sinking will also take place.
- Followed by a presentation from Neil Bell on HMCS Athabaskan.
- Closing remarks around 15:00
End of Memorial services – 15:30 – 16:00
The above is subject to adjustments and changes depending on factors beyond the control of the organizing committee (FOH, Parks Canada, and HMCS Star).
