May 26, 1953 Yang do, Korea. HAIDA pays her “final dues” in membership to the Trainbusters Club. That is HMCS HAIDA’s second train and becomes # 2 Trainbuster after HMCS CRUSADER.
June 9, 1944 Battle of Ushant. Night action, Normandy. HMCS HAIDA and HMCS HURON destroy the German Narvik class destroyer Z 32 in a gun duel off Ile de Bas. (Captain DeWolf’s 2nd DSC.)
June 16, 1948 A burial at sea took place from HMCS HAIDA for Lt (A), Nigel Douglas Fisher, Royal Navy, who died when his Sea Hornet crashed into the sea off Halifax.
August 6, 1944 HMCS HAIDA sinks German minesweeper M486 off Ile d’Yeu, Bay of Biscay. LS R.H. Betts, and AB G.J. Rowe, both killed in action Aug 6, 1944. A/S Kerwin awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal. (This was the second CGM awarded to the RCN. The first was Max Bernay’s on August 6, 1942).
